The University Foundation’s aim is to train international students for further education in Russian universities. The University Foundation Program puts particular emphasis on developing international and cross-cultural competencies through Russian language acquisition.

SPbPU University Foundation program was founded in 1965. The number of University Foundation program graduates is more than 15 000 international students from Europe, Central, North and South America, Asia and Africa.

All educational programs meet state educational standards of university foundation training, which was developed with the active participation of specialists IIEP SPbPU. Educational programs and curricula at all academic disciplines take into account the standards of Russian high school and first courses of universities. Over 50% of time is spent studying the Russian language. The Program disciplines take into account Russian school and first courses of universities standards.

Depending on the students’ future specialization (major) 3 profiles are available:

  • ENGINEERING,
  • ECONOMICS,
  • HUMANITIES.

Programs

1. Non-degree program for international students “University Foundation Program – STANDARD” (for those who start training from September to November):

  • Duration – 10 months;
  • Workload – 1340 hours;
  • Disciplines studied according to the profile:
Economics Basic disciplines the Russian language, mathematics, physics
Additional disciplines computer science, chemistry, sports
Economics Basic disciplines the Russian language, mathematics, economic and social geography.
Additional disciplines the economy, social science bases, computer science, history, sports.
Humanities Basic disciplines the Russian language, history, economic and social geography.
Additional disciplines the basics of social science, literature, mathematics, computer science, and sports

2. Non-degree program for international students “University Foundation Program- INTENSIVE” (for those who start training from November):

  • Duration – 8 months
  • Workload – 1200 hours
  • Disciplines studied according to the profile
Engineering Disciplines the Russian language, mathematics, physics
Economics Disciplines the Russian language, mathematics, economic and social geography.
Humanities Disciplines the Russian language, history, economic and social geography.

Study groups: 7-12 persons.

After successful completion of the University Foundation program students receive a Certificate.

Rules of Admission for University Foundation programs

1. New comers should apply next documents:

  • application in person (take in room 228 IIEP);
  • passport and its copy.

2. Documents are accepted until:

  • 01.10.2016 for entering in the fall semester
  • 15.01.2017 for entering the spring semester in the program of the Russian language.
